In general, limiting your frame rate will help reduce the noise by putting less stress onto your GPU.

On Confirm Device Removal dialog box, click Delete the driver software for this device option to delete the Intel HD Graphics driver then click OK to start the uninstall process. The increasing noise of the fan is an indication that your GPU is under stress or load.

I use to have a sound card in my PC but the electrical noise made it difficult to communicate. It sounds like a smaller version of what you'd hear when you walk under powe.

I was hoping my motherboard/CPU and video card upgrade would somehow magically fix it. I decided to troubleshoot, I disabled all my case fans besided the GPU, CPU Cooler, and PSU fan. The noise can also be made due to coil whine made from vibration in the GPU’s coil. I think the gpu cooler has gone loose from being hung upside down for two years. Possible sources are anything with a buck regulator in it. It also vibrates pretty badly, but performance doesn't seem to have been affected. Weirdly, only the right channel was affected.

Other than the fan, which is not causing the clicking, I could not think of anything on the GPU that would make that sound. It’s very hard to describe, but it’s like a purring or growling. 2) Antec Quatro 1000: Squealing at high frame rate apps, example UT3 main game screen.

The new Wolfenstein games, have an issue where the game will stutter for a second making a buzzing sound. I tried using some foam tape for shock absorption, and that did help a bit. It doesn't sound like much but then again you have to remember your PSU is not 500 watts. I noticed that whenever the gpu is running, I get low pitched buzzing noise.Fortunately, the steps above still resolve the issue. I installed version A06 and STILL the high-pitched noise was emitted by the laptop.

I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s possible that this Bios update will help! Since writing this post, Dell has come out with an updated version of the Latitude 820 Bios (version A06). Once you’ve done this, the noise will stop! Select the “Power Management” tab, and uncheck the “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power” checkbox.

To resolve this, go to your Device Manager, right-click “Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Module” (at least, that’s what it’s called on my machine), and select properties. As a result, the Bluetooth device turns off, and this evidently allows the processor to move into a C3 state, thus causing the high-pitched noise. Turns out, it’s because a power saving checkbox was enabled. Having read the article, I noticed that my Bluetooth device shuts down shortly after my machine boots up. But, this article led me on the correct path to solving the problem. Personally, I find it quite humorous that Dell blames the problem on Piezoelectricity, and even goes so far as to link to Wikipedia for more information. But, it turns out that it’s actually a known issue. I’ve been trying to explain to people how the high-pitched noise emitting from my Dell Latitude D820 (which is a great computer) has been driving me crazy! Indeed, after complaining about this noise, most people actually think I have GONE crazy.
